The #EFICOnTheMove (OTM) campaign was launched by former EFIC President Bart Morlion to promote physical activity as a preventive and therapeutic tool against chronic pain.

Physical activity’s well-known health benefits include a reduced risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and improved mental health. What is less well-known is that greater levels of physical activity and exercise are also associated with a lower risk of developing chronic pain. Chronic pain is defined as pain on a daily basis for 12 weeks. It is a significant health issue affecting between 12-30% Europeans.

As this is an ongoing and long-term issue, we want to introduce new On The Move projects and activities in the future. We are excited to announce that a new working group led by Henrik Bjarke Vægter has been appointed and a new set of goals and objectives have been decided.

26-30 June 2024 in Kraków, Poland

We are excited to announce that the EFIC Pain School on Translational Pain Research will take place on 26-30 June 2024 in Kraków, Poland. The course is open to anaesthetists, surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, researchers, and quality assurance specialists in the early-middle stages of their careers. We expect that learners will take it upon themselves to disseminate the knowledge and experience they gained during the course, among their peers.

We would like to formally notify you that the 2020 EFIC Pain Schools are open for registration.

These are extraordinary circumstances, and we hope that COVID-19 is effectively managed by the time we reach summer, with minimal restrictions on meetings and events. We will update you if the current government measures look likely to interfere with the Schools. As they take place in September and early October, we currently see a low risk and will open registration as normal.
